London Eye Fast Track vs Standard: Worth the Upgrade?

Fast-track skips the queue and the security line. Standard queues can hit 90 minutes in summer. Is the upgrade worth it?

Published: 17 May 2026

The London Eye is one of those attractions where the queue can be longer than the actual ride. Standard entry queues hit 60-90 minutes in peak summer; fast-track gets you on within 15 minutes. The price gap is real, fast-track costs ยฃ15-25 more than standard. Worth it?

What standard tickets get you

Standard entry (ยฃ32 booked online, ยฃ40 at the gate): queue with everyone else for security, then for the ride. In July-August this queue averages 75 minutes. In November it's 15 minutes.

What fast-track adds

Fast-track (ยฃ45-50): dedicated entrance, dedicated security lane, dedicated boarding queue. Total wait usually under 15 minutes year-round. Same 30-minute ride, same capsule, same views.

When fast-track is worth it

School holidays (July-August, late December, half-term weeks). Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Sunset slots in summer (everyone wants the golden hour ride).

When standard is fine

Weekday mornings November-March. Mid-week January-February. Any time you're early (first hour of opening) or late (last hour).

Insider tip

The 'sunset' time slot (around 7:30pm summer, 3:30pm winter) is the most popular and the most queue-prone. If you don't care about sunset specifically, book a slot 90 minutes off-peak and your standard ticket will work fine.

Combo tickets

Bundled tickets (London Eye + River Cruise, London Eye + Madame Tussauds) sometimes include fast-track at marginal extra cost. Worth checking if you're planning multiple attractions.
